Common Concerns

Many educators are concerned about when they can retire and how much money needed to sustain their desired lifestyle throughout retirement.  They have the funds or income but may lack the time, the interest, and/or the expertise to solve the problem. Often, their biggest obstacle is paralysis by analysis that can lead to inaction. Our firm equips them with the education and actionable items necessary to help them retire with confidence.

Pension

Employees in higher education in Tennessee are either members of the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System or the Optional Retirement Plan. Our team of advisors are experts in creating and implementing strategies to make the most of either one, and whether it is a Legacy or Hybrid pension benefit. With the ever-changing landscape of retirement planning and retirement plans, it is vital to have a trained eye on how to navigate your defined benefit plan. This is a foundational component to any relationship we develop with TCRS/ORP members.

Retirement Savings

Most educators are accustomed to saving into a 403(b), 457(b) , and, in recent years, a matching 401(k). Other retirement savings vehicles, such as Optional Retirement Plans, are sometimes available for these individuals and provide an additional opportunity when making retirement savings decisions. These workplace retirement vehicles are a great way to save for retirement in conjunction with Individual Retirement Accounts or IRAs while you are working. We analyze these options with our clients to construct an asset allocation model best suited to them in the most appropriate vehicle.

Our firm is comprised of a Chartered Retirement Planning Consultant, a Sports & Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor, and, specializing in these higher-ed retirement plans, Andrew C. Craft, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional with a Masters Degree in Personal Financial Planning.

Together, the team bring more than 40 years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of state and University retirement systems to help maximize the benefits of these plans while minimizing potential limitations. Our clients appreciate working with someone who is available to meet with them to answer their questions in person or virtually, as well as monitor their ongoing progress.
